PAF is based in St Erme, 150km north-east of Paris, France, between Reims and Laon.
PAF (=PerformingArtsForum) is a place for the professional and not-yet professional practitioners and activists in the field of performing arts, visual art, literature, music, new media and internet, theory and cultural production, and scientists who seek to research and determine their own conditions of work. PAF is for people who can motorize their own artistic production and knowledge production not only responding to the opportunities given by the institutional market.
Initiated and run by artists, theoreticians and practitioners themselves, PAF is a user-created, user-innovative informal institution. Neither a production-house and venue, nor a research-center, it is a platform for everyone who wants to expand possibilities and interests in his/her own working practice.
PAF is

- a place for temporary autonomy and full concentration on work
- a tool-machine where one can work on developing methods, tools and procedures, not necessarily driven toward a product

BIDSTON OBSERVATORY (UK) :

PLACE PRESENTATION :
Bidston Observatory Artistic Research Centre is a not-for-profit study site that focuses on providing individual users and groups with a low cost, temporary place to dictate their own methods of work. The centre allows practitioners to come and stay together, to develop projects that require time and space in a flexible, non-pressured environment.

This is a site for research and experimentation, primarily directed towards cultural production and supporting the development of communities. The Observatory does not look to lay claim to work produced here, and the space is not for public presentation per se. Work here is mainly co-initiated rather than steered by traditional modes of curation.

The Observatory also hosts seminars, events and workshops and is open to a range of academic and non-academic discourses; from politics and social sciences to philosophy, bodywork, collective choreography or chat; where discussion can flow from kitchen to sound recording studio, and ideas can bounce between the domes and basements. The Observatory welcomes a diversity of fields and is a forum where different types of knowledge can be tested, shared and extended. The resource is kept running (we hope!) by a nightly fee of £15 per person. The fee solely goes towards sustaining this project.

PLACE RESOURCES :
- Place to stay (beds for 22 people, communal kitchen)
- Place to work (sound and wood workspaces, etc)
- annual general events

PLACE NEEDS :

MASSIA (Estonia) :

PLACE PRESENTATION :

MASSIA is a residency that welcomes individuals or groups from any field - artists, activists, researchers, practitioners, scientists etc. - to follow or create their own modes of work and knowledge production. MASSIA offers itself as a platform to research, experiment and take risks with your work. As a direct offshoot of PAF, MASSIA is founded on the same ideas and principles and tries to stress the notions of self-organisation and autonomy in a hospitable and easily accessible space. MASSIA has (almost) no staff, offers low cost stay and no application is necessary.

With Massia Officinale, the ideas extend to the living surroundings and the notion of thriving in co-existence with differing others, in alliance with more-than-human worlds. The project evolves around MASSIA's medicinal herb garden and spans a communal apothecary and a growing library of knowledges. Massia Officinale generates exchanges for people within the intersections of plant practices, artistic research, science, theory and everyday practices. Creating an alternative research site and community for cultivating ways of studying, practicing and sharing knowledges.

MASSIA is located in Massiaru, on the coast of southwestern Estonia, right in between Tallinn (180 km) and Riga (140 km). 12 km from here is the Baltic Sea and its sandy beaches. 5 km from here is Nigula, one of the oldest bog reserves of Estonia with swamp forests and lakes. BRAVOS FOUNDRY (Spain) :

PLACE PRESENTATION :

The Foundry is a non-profit space for intellectuals, artists, artisans, and anyone who seeks to work outside of the institutional confines of market and university. Against the abstraction and commodification of intellectual labor, the site stresses that critical thinking is a way of living rooted in engagements with one another and with the environment.

The Foundry occupies an ensemble of old buildings in a valley in rural Galicia at 10 kilometers from the Atlantic coast. The project was started in 2018, and we are currently renovating the houses, building a permaculture garden, and organizing the first events. This is a communal effort, and we welcome those interested to join us in Spain or to propose an event.

The Foundry is open for anyone who wants to come. We try to keep it as cheap as possible; in 2020, accommodation fees will be 10 euros (and free for those who help out with construction or organize an event). The Foundry has no staff, so people are expected to clean up after themselves.

PLACE RESOURCES :

Right now, we have about 20 beds, divided over some 12 rooms. There's 6 bathrooms, internet, a fancy kitchen and a lot of spaces to work. We have a permaculture garden, a workshop, and some bigger spaces (including a chapel) for people to organize events. There's around 5 hectares of land around the buildings, a lot of it yet to be developed.

PLACE NEEDS :

-Volunteers to help with construction and agriculture.

-People to organize events (on the website you can propose events).

-Money to cover expenses.
